Theodor W. Adorno'da kültürün metalaşması

In this study, Adorno's approach to the problem of the commodification of culture in the context of culture is problematized considering its historical background. In this context, in the first chapter of the study, different meanings gained in the course of the concept of culture's reaching to the civilization; and views by Marx, Simmel, Weber, Lukacs and Institute for Social Research constituting the historical background of the problem of commodification with reference to the theoretical ground problematizing the subject were addressed.In the second chapter of the study, the impact of Enlightenment, instrumental mind, positivism, traditional philosophy, Christianity, bourgeoisie, urbanization, late capitalism and fascism considered by Adorno as processes paving the way for the commodification of culture on the subject was discussed.In the third chapter of the study, in the context of culture's becoming a product of the industry regarded by Adorno as commodified cultural elements; the commodified structures of man in the context of their effort, body, living environment and relations; the commodified structures of art in the context of both production and consumption; the commodified structures of language in the context of jargonisation of thought detached from the reality; the commodified structures of knowledge in the context of its turning into a property that can be sold; the commodified structures of religion in the context of its simplification as a leisure activity; and the commodified structures of death in the context of its turning into a business problem were addressed.In the fourth chapter of the study, cultural critique presented by Adorno as a means for surpassing the commodification, Critical theory, Negative dialectics, personhood, art and the roles that will be played by philosophy in the process of its surpassing the commodification were emphasized.In the conclusion chapter, Adorno's approach to the problem of the commodification and his thoughts asserting as the opportunity for surpassing the commodification were evaluated in the context of criticisms leveled at him.Key Words: Adorno, Art, Commodification, Critical Theory, Culture, Culture Industry, Domination, Fascism, Individual, Industrialization, Negation, Theory and Practise.
Bu çalışmada, kültür bağlamında Adorno'nun metalaşma sorununa yaklaşımı tarihsel arka planı da dikkate alınarak sorunsallaştırılmaktadır. Bu çerçevede çalışmanın Birinci Bölüm'ünde kültür kavramının uygarlığa uzanan süreçte kazanmış olduğu farklı anlamlara ve konuyu sorunsallaştıran teorik zeminden hareketle metalaşma sorununun tarihsel arka planını oluşturan Marx, Simmel, Weber, Lukacs ve Toplumsal Araştırmalar Enstitüsü'nün görüşlerine yer verildi.Çalışmanın İkinci Bölüm'ünde, Adorno'nun kültürün metalaşmasını hazırlayan süreçler olarak değerlendirdiği Aydınlanma, araçsal akıl, pozitivizm, geleneksel felsefe, Hıristiyanlık, burjuvazi, kentleşme, geç kapitalizm ve Faşizm'in konuya olan etkileri ele alındı.Çalışmanın Üçüncü Bölüm'ünde, Adorno'nun metalaşan kültürel unsurlar olarak ele aldığı kültürün endüstrinin ürünü haline gelmesi noktasında, emeği, bedeni, yaşadığı ortam ve ilişkileri bağlamında insanın; hem üretim hem tüketim bağlamında sanatın; düşüncenin gerçeklikten koparılarak jargonlaştırılması bağlamında dilin; satılabilir bir mülk haline getirilmesi bağlamında bilginin; boş zaman etkinliği olarak sadeleştirilmesi bağlamında dinin ve bir işletme problemi haline getirilmesi bağlamında ölümün metalaşan yapıları ele alındı.Çalışmanın Dördünce Bölüm'ünde, Adorno'nun metalaşmayı aşma imkanı olarak sunduğu kültür eleştirisi, Eleştirel Teori, Negatif Diyalektik, birey olma, sanat ve felsefenin metalaşmayı aşma sürecinde oynayacağı roller üzerinde duruldu.Sonuç Bölüm'ünde ise Adorno'nun metalaşma sorununa yaklaşımı ve metalaşmayı aşmanın imkanı olarak ileri sürmüş olduğu düşünceleri kendisine yöneltilen eleştiriler bağlamında değerlendirildi.Anahtar Kelimeler: Adorno, Birey, Eleştirel Teori, Endüstrileşme, Faşizm, Kültür, Kültür Endüstrisi, Metalaşma, Olumsuzlama, Sanat, Tahakküm, Teori ve Pratik.
