Coğrafi bilgi sistemleri gelişmiş ülkelerde kadastro, planlama gibi farklı alanlarda mekansal verinin işlenmesinde kullanılır. CBS Kamu kurumları, özel sektörler ve yönetimler için, çok daha hızlı, güvenilir, az tekrar edilen ve çok daha az zaman harcayacak şekilde çalışmalar sunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada mekansal verinin saklanması ve işlenmesi için CBS lerde kullanılan veri modellerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada CBS ler ve CBSlerin yararları ve uygulama alanları hakkında genel bilgi verilmiştir. Çalışmanın bir bölümünde CBS lerde kullanılan veri modelleri anlatılmıştır. Tez konusu olan CBS’ lerde nesneye dayalı veri modellemesi hakkında bilgi verilmiş ve ilişkisel veri modeli ile karşılaştırılmıştır Bonn üniversitesi çalışnaları tarafından nesneye dayalı programlama dili kullanılarak geliştirilen SupportGIS yazılımı hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Çalışmada SupportGIS yazılımında nesneye dayalı veri modellemesi özellikleri incelenmiştir. Yazılım bir pilot bölgede kadastro bilgi sistemi geliştirilerek denenmiştir. Çalışma bölgesi Beyoğlu Belediyesine ait Hasköy Bölgesinde yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar elde edilmiş ve bir takım öneriler getirilmiştir.
GIS are used especially in developing countries to manipulate of spatial data in different areas, such as cadastre, land planning etc. GIS present faster, more successful, more reliable, less unrepeated and less spending works for municipality, private enterprise and government. In this study, it is aimed to examine kinds of modelling systems in GIS to store and manipulate of spatial data. In this study, a general definition is given for Geographical Information Systems and its application area and benefits. A part of the study, data models used in GIS are explained. Especially information about object-oriented data modeling system in GIS, being subject of the thesis project, is given and compared to relational data modeling for the GIS. General information about the software namely SupportGIS is given. SupportGIS software has been developed using an object oriented program language by a staff from Bonn University. Properties of object-oriented modeling systems are examined to SupportGIS software in this study. SupportGIS software is tried to develop a cadastre information system as a small size pilot project. The study area includes the Region of Hasköy, Beyoğlu Municipality. Finally the results came out and due to these results some suggestions are made.
