The purpose of this study is to identify "the wish sentences" that teacher candidates create in the communication with themselves. The case study which is one of the type of qualitative research is utilized in this study. The study group is formed by 320 students studying in a university in central Anatolia. Data were collected by the open-ended question forms that developed for the students to write "the wish sentences" created in communication with themselves about their past and future life. Frequency analysis approach was used during data analyzing. The results of the study indicated that female and male students expressed a lot of regrets about past and future in communication with themselves. According to research findings, it is identified that "the wish sentences" of students in communication with themselves about their past and future life differ by gender. The results of the study indicated that female students expressed their regrets about past and future at most by telling "I wish I could have passed the university exam in my first entarance", "I wish I had studied a lot last year", "I wish I was together with my family", "I wish I could be more useful to my family". Male students expressed their opinions by telling "I wish I could study in a better university" "I wish I lived in a bigger city".
