Twenty phenotypes of wild olive at three main locations in Hama Province (Sighta- Tal afar- Ain Nabid) where selected to be described. The purpose of this research was to classify wild olive phenotypes by analyzing characteristics of olive stone computer-image using fractal geometry and moments. Twelve stones from every phenotype, had been imaged, and fractured to extract texture information, Moments were used to extract shape. Length, width, shape and texture had been measured, also. Results indicated significant differences between values (odd ratio 1%) length of stones, width, shapeand texture. The results showed between phenotypes and regions high biodiversity in Wild olive. Correlation coefficient between wild olive phenotype where selected depending on Jacard value. The highest correlation coefficients where 90% (WT5-WT4), and 85% (WA1- WA2). The lowest correlation coefficients where 7 % (WS2-WA1). The wild olive phenotypes were divided to three groups by cluster analysis. The present investigation showed that wild olives are different mixture genotypes not ecotypes. Fractals and moments found to be a potential technique for accurate, eventual and efficient classification of wild olive phenotypes and olive diversity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
