Changing the PhD.: a Tilt Toward Teaching.

The article looks at criticism of a May 2014 report from the MLA (Modern Language Association) Task Force on Doctoral Study in Modern Language and Literature which recommended that doctoral programs revise admissions practices, dissertation policies, and the length of study time for a degree. The author suggests that the appendix of the report offers valuable examples of Ph.D. programs that focus on effective teaching.
