    • نبذة مختصرة :
The article cites a study which examines the relative role of gender differences in students's attitude toward second language learning and multicultural society. The study involves Arab immigrant students in Canada, who come from conservative communities and face problems adjusting to the modern and open North American values. These students may manifest the aforesaid factors in their attitudes toward the majority language in the host country. One of the important distinctions between the two types of societies is the freedom enjoyed by women in Canada, compared with women in Arab societies.
