      The article informs how Italian restauranteur Arrigo Cipriani, 61 and owner of Harry's Bar in Venice, is going to begin packaging and selling his gourmet pasta in the U.S. The quality of the product is outstanding, but Cipriani's top managers did not have any experience in distributing or marketing packaged foods. Sales were dismal, amounting to under $1 million in the first five years. Finally in 1990, Cipriani got serious. He brought in some experienced packaged food managers and began to take a direct interest in the marketing. Cipriani then produced promotional material suggesting the pasta is made by his restaurant chefs. Distribution has been strengthened, quadrupling to 2,000 the number of outlets selling the pasta in Italy, Germany, France and the U.S.
