Toxicology.

Since its inception, toxicology has gone through many paradigmatic shifts and has developed several subdisciplines, each with its own approaches and techniques but united by the fundamental challenge of understanding and controlling the interaction between toxic agents and physiological processes. The scale of analysis in which toxicological questions are investigated ranges from molecules to ecosystems, and toxicologists study all kinds of organisms, from the smallest viruses to the largest terrestrial and aquatic organisms.
