      The article examines the 2012 Bioplastics Symposium held in Baltimore, Maryland. Remarks by participants including Ramani Narayan, Stan Blade and Dick Lilly on disposal of bioplastics and biopolymers are discussed, particularly composting of biopolymers. Research on biopolymers presented at the conference is discussed including creation of co-polyesters, chain branching and the development of foams made from mycelium.
