Evaluación del Estado Nutricional de Niños y Adolescentes con Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda en el Hospital General Celaya. (Spanish)

Background: Acute leukemia groups diverse diseases that have in common the neoplasm transformation of the of hematopoyetic cells. Due to his relative frequency it represents 35 % of the neoplasm in patients with age lower than 15 years. In the last years there has been an increasing interest in the study of the nutritious condition of these patients. Objective: Determine the nutritional condition of children and teenagers with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in oncological treatment that are present at the Oncopediatric Unit at the General Hospital of Celaya. Methods and Patients: A descriptive, transverse and longitudinal study was realized, 41 patients were included from two to 18 years of age, both sexes, with diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in oncological treatment. Results: The results allow to know that the nutritional condition of the patients, it was normal in 17 (42%) of the children and teenagers, followed by 12 overweight (29%) and 6 obesity (15%) cases, and that malnutrition does not appear frequently, slight malnutrition was observed in 5 (12%) and seriously in 1 case (2%). Discussion: The biochemical parameters change due to the disease and oncological treatment, so they are not reliable parameters to determine the nutritious condition in pediatric patients with ALL. With this study is possible to be clear that the acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a disease of low nutritional risk. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introducción: La Leucemia Aguda agrupa diversas enfermedades que tiene en común la transformación neoplásica de células hematopoyéticas. Debido a su relativa frecuencia representa alrededor de 35% de las neopl asias en pacientes con edad inferior a 15 años. En los últimos años ha habido un creciente interés en el estudio del estado nutricio de estos pacientes. Objetivo: Determinar el estado nutricio de niños y adolescentes con leucemia linfoblástica aguda, en tratamiento oncológico que asisten a la Unidad Oncopediátrica del Hospital General Celaya. Material y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal y prospectivo, se incluyeron 41 pacientes de dos a 18 años de edad, ambos sexos, con diagnóstico de leucemia linfoblástica aguda en tratamiento oncológico. Resultados: Los resultados obtenidos permiten conocer que el estado nutricio de los pacientes, en primer lugar es normal 17 (42%) de los niños y adolescentes, seguido del sobrepeso 12 (29%) y obesidad 6 (15%), la desnutrición no se presenta de manera frecuente, se obtuvo desnutrición leve 5 (12%) y grave 1 (2%). Discusión: Los parámetros bioquímicos varían debido a la enfermedad y tratamiento oncológico, por lo que no son parámetros confiables para determinar el estado nutricio en pacientes pediátricos con LLA. Con este estudio se puede sugerir que la leucemia aguda linfoblástica, es una enfermedad de bajo índice de desnutrición. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
