      The article reports on the study by Qian Xiao and colleagues of the U.S. National Cancer Institute, which found that high intake of supplementary calcium could be associated by high risk of deaths from total cardiovascular disease (CVD) among men than women. The study examined 388,229 men and women ages 50 to 71 years in six U.S. states. Moreover, the study fails to capture data on the duration of calcium supplementation.
