The article deals with the issue of documents intended for visually impaired users in the context of library and information science. It notes that, in the context of this discipline, there exist only a small number of studies devoted to these issues. This state is explained by the fact that library and information science has left the classical document paradigm and it has shifted its attention from documents to information and from information to information authors and users. This leads to some adverse consequences concerning especially the problems with handing on the information to users with visual impairment. These consequences may be overcome by return to the document paradigm which has been revived on the field of library and information science for the needs both theory and practice. The study "Functional requirements for bibliographic records" is one of the practical outputs which models the area related to the memory institutions' collections. This study makes an effective tool for modeling of documents for visually impaired users whose assets are shown in the article. The method of modeling of documents for visually impaired users in the framework of the document paradigm of library and information science can help to bring information to this group of users in a more effective way. Článek se zabývá problematikou dokumentů určených zrakovĕ postiženým uživatelům v kontextu knihovní a informační vĕdy. Konstatuje, že v rámci této disciplíny existuje malý počet studií vĕnovaných tĕmto otázkám. Tento stav vysvĕtluje tím, že knihovní a informační vĕda opustila klasické dokumentové paradigma a přesunula svou pozornost z dokumentů na informace a z informací na jejich uživatele a tvůrce. Tato skutečnost vede k nĕkterým neblahým důsledkům, zvláŠtĕ z hlediska zprostředkování informací uživatelům se zrakovým postižením. Důsledky z toho vyplývající mohou být překonány návratem k dokumentovému paradigmatu, které bylo na půdĕ knihovní a informační vĕdy znovu oživeno jak pro potřeby teorie, tak pro potřeby praxe. Jedním z praktických výstupů je studie "Funkční požadavky na bibliografické záznamy", která modeluje oblast týkající se sbírek pamĕťových institucí. Studie představuje účinný nástroj pro modelování dokumentů pro zrakovĕ postižené uživatele, jehož přednosti jsou v článku ukázány na příkladech. Modelování dokumentů pro zrakovĕ postižené uživatele v rámci dokumentového paradigmatu knihovní a informační vĕdy může přispĕt k efektivnĕjŠímu zprostředkování informací této skupinĕ uživatelů.
