?TWO athletes will compete under the Olympic flag at London. Laser radial sailor Philipine van Aanholt and Reginald de Windt in Judo have entered as Independent participants after the Netherland Antilles were dissolved as an autonomous entity last year. The athletes could have competed for the Netherlands or Aruba but they were also permitted to compete under the Olympic colours. This will only be the third time that athletes have competed in such circumstances. A team of Yugoslav and Macedonian athletes did so in 1992 because of the Balkan conflict, while four athletes from East Timor did so at Sydney 2000. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
