The authors discuss three studies by H. Larsen and colleagues, which report that implicit alcohol-related cognitions are unrelated to observed alcohol use. They offer reasonable reasons for lack of association between implicit alcohol measures and drinking behaviors and provide suggestions for future work. In their opinion, further research needs to develop innovative methods for drinking assessment.
