The article presents the findings of a study conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer which revealed the potential capability of cancer-spurring gene rearrangements MAST kinase and Notch family genes to trigger 5-7% of all breast cancers. The study reveals the effects of genetic rearrangements on breast cancer cells. It shows that gene sequencing provides opportunities to develop treatments for individuals whose tumors carry specific genetic combinations.
