The author shares her impressions of the "Occupy Wall Street" (OWS) movement in the U.S. as gleaned from visits to OWS encampments in New York City and Nashville, Tennessee. She notes that for some young protesters, OWS has afforded them a chance to put aside video games and interact with others in a meaningful way. She further observes that a common humanity and rejection of violence and fear were hallmarks of demonstrators in Nashville. Commentary is provided on how the example of sixteenth-century revolutionary Guy Fawkes seems to have been adopted by some as a symbol for the movement.
