The article presents the rubella screening and vaccination program for junior and senior high school girls, young women, and adolescent girls in Casper, Wyoming and Hawaii. This program which was developed in 1974 at the Roosevelt Hospital in New York City intended to screen all 10-21 year-old women who attend the pediatric outpatient department for rubella susceptibility; and to provide vaccines to those susceptible and who were not possible for pregnancy in the next 3 months. There were 1,768 adolescent women who underwent testing for rubella screening and vaccination. The results of the screening showed that susceptible patients who were screened were 20.1%. It was inferred that high risk groups of women should continue receive rubella screening and vaccination.
