A Primer on Effective Professional Development.

The article discusses the need for effective teacher professional development. The article defines professional development as activities that can help teachers by giving them information about teaching methods and notes that such information can be shared formally in a seminar or conference or informally between teachers. Embedded professional development includes co-teaching, mentoring in education, and group discussions. Active learning, consistency, and team work are some of the features of an effective professional development program. Methods for evaluating the quality of professional development programs are considered.
