      The article focuses on how the current digital media can be theorized in terms of archival effects. It examines the theoretical literature of the digital archives' complex and contradictory effects as well as their significance for historical record and the future of libraries. It also discusses the disciplinary boundaries of the terms "archive" and "database" wherein scholars used them metaphorically and associates them from professional experts.
