      The article discusses bodily decomposition after death, its pace and completeness, and chemical and environmental factors involved in the process. Variations in the time required to reach the skeleton stage of decay are noted. Also noted are the organic and inorganic chemicals generated by a decaying dead body and their use in forensic science. Four stages of bodily decomposition are noted and discussed including the 6-day fresh stage, the bloat stages from days 7 to 23, the active decay stage that proceeds to day 50, and the dry stage that proceeds to day 64.
