Radioactivity and Rights.

BIKINI Atoll (Marshall Islands); ISLANDS of the Pacific

The article explores the problems surrounding the Pacific island of Bikini Atoll in the aftermath of the atomic-bomb testing conducted by the U.S. government in 1946. The atomic testing has left cesium and radioactive elements around the island. Since then radioactivity affected the atmosphere, water and soil in the island. The detonation of atomic bomb have immediate physiological effect that can lead to burns, hair loss, and death. Efforts to evacuate people from the island and deal with the radioactivity problems are explored.
