  The article presents a study on the integration of DIVA-GIS software approaches for the diversity assessment of pod characteristics in black gram (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) germplasm in Andhra Pradesh, India. The study focuses on the behavior of black gram using Global Positioning System, GIS mapping and grid maps, recording geographical coordinates and characters. Observations obtained that showed variability in quantitative and qualitative traits of black gram germplasm are studied.
