      The article presents the author's opinion on why attacks on the field of economics such as the "New York Times" newspaper article "How Did Economists Get It So Wrong?" by Paul Krugman are wrong. She discusses the articles published by commentators using the global financial crisis to criticize economics. The author believes that the criticisms of economics and economists reflects the difficulty of macroeconomic forecasting and a distrust of economics' use of mathematical modeling. The developments in the field of economics including the behavioral approach to economics, market design, and "happiness" economics are discussed by the author.
