The development of biochemistry and molecular biology in China.

The article discusses the development of molecular biology and biochemistry in China. To promote the development of science, the Chinese Academy of Sciences was established in November 1949. In 1956, many students were sent to the Soviet Union and obtained Candidate Degrees after their graduate studies. It is reported that the development of biochemistry and molecular biology was greatly affected by the chaotic "Cultural Revolution" which was started in 1966 and eventually ended in 1976.
