Maintaining Treatment of Depression in Adolescents Increases Remissions.

This article focuses on a study which examined remission rate in adolescents being treated for depression. Results of the study showed that there was a remission rate across groups of 60%. According to Betsy Kennard and colleagues in the Treatment for Adolescents With Depression Study (TADS), the results highlighted the need for continued and maintenance phase treatments for depressed adolescents. The study also found that the combination of fluoxetine and cognitive-behavioral therapy was assocaited with the highest remission rate.
