      The article discusses the prevalence of reproductive tract infections (RTIs) and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among married women in the reproductive age group residing in a rural area in Sirmour in Himachal Pradesh, India. It cites several consequences resulting from RTIs such as ectopic pregnancy, cervical cancer and emotional distress. A study was carried out to 452 such women, 235 of which have RTIs leading to a prevalence rate of 51.9%. It mentions that the lack of awareness and health care access may have contributed to the prevalence.
