The article discusses a study on the use of professional learning communities (PLCs) as a professional development tool for teachers in writing instruction. The study focused on how best practices shared through PLCs aided elementary school teachers reach performance standards. Communication and cooperation between members of the PLC formed the basis of a writing model. The success of the PLC at building teacher confidence was documented through classroom observation.
