The BIOSATELLITE II Mission.

The article presents information on the U.S. Biosatellite II mission from September 7 to 9, 1967. The objectives of the mission was to examine the influence of microgravity on the growth, form, development, morphology and biochemistry of a selected group of organisms. The mission is considered the first major effort in the U.S. to exploit the excellent opportunity offered by Earth-orbital missions to obtain a better understanding of basic biological processes in space and on Earth. The success of the mission prompted preparations for other tests.
