The article discusses the use of the California Online Resources for Educators (CORE) computer network to inspire student writing in the classroom. According to the author, educators using CORE are able to send electronic messages around the globe because CORE is tied to the Internet. He points out that telecommunicating on CORE facilitates and motivates writing by giving students a purpose and an audience. He contends that Classroom-Based Telecomputing offers students a worldwide audience that the ordinary classroom cannot provide, as well as the tools and motivation to write well.
