WANG YANGMING THOUGHT AS CULTURAL CAPITAL: THE CASE OF YONGKANG COUNTY.

The article discusses the development and mass adoption of the teachings and philosophy of 16th century Chinese intellectual Wang Yangming. Unlike the intellectuals of the Taihe County who were quick to lost interest on cultural issues and were more likely to get involved with new intellectual trends, intellectuals at Yongkang County reconstructed their identity and patronize Yangming's teachings. Emphasis is given to the moment when new translocal trend confronted traditional norms, with the minority followers of Yangmig at the forefront.
