New report sheds light on bisphosphonates.

The article reports on the insufficiency of evidence that would prove the effectiveness of bisphosphonates over estrogen analogues, calcitonin or raloxifene in fracture prevention among osteoporosis patients based on the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) report. It summarised 101 studies that evaluated six bisphosphonates. It also found that patients stop taking their medicines due to cessation of symptoms, side effects and dosing. It states that no bisphosphonates stand out as most effective fracture prevention.
