      The article presents information on the case of Shihao Hupang, a Chinese student in Canada who is being fined and sent to jail for using fake documents to try to remain in Canada. In October 2007 Hupang pleaded guilty to misrepresenting facts under Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act by using a fake transcript and acceptance letter, purchased via the Internet, to apply for an extension of his legal study permit, which had expired in April of the same year. The federal government is increasing scrutiny of student visa fraud based on media stories revealing the extent of diploma mills, fake document businesses, and corrupt educational consultants in existence.
