  The article presents a research which focuses on the odor-mediated push-pull pollination strategy in cycads, a dioecious gymnosperms. In the study, the researchers tested the thrips electrophysiological and behavioral responses to cone volatiles. The electrophysiological tests showed that the thrips chemical components respond to the three components of the plant. Results revealed that the obligate pollination mutualism is distinguished for the push-pull behavior of the gymnosperm plant which may conserve the intermediary evolution of seed plant fertilization.
