  The article compares three measures of adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) in eighty HIV-positive adults from Malawi, Africa. Methods used included measuring adherence over one month by pill count (PC), self-report, and a medication event monitoring system (MEMS). The study concluded that there was probable overestimation of adherence to PC and self-report, which shows a need to improve methods of measuring adherence in developing countries.
