This article presents research on the electroreceptors in ratfish or chimaera. A captured ratfish was studied for its ability to detect electric current. The researcher tested his theory by training the fish to reverse course when it felt an electric current. He further went on to explore how the fish can detect the current and found that it uses the same system as sharks do which is through the sensory system called the ampullae of Lorenzini.
