Education and Development: Toward a Modern Education System in the UAE

This book, which includes a number of research papers presented at the 6th Annual Education Conference held at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) from October 27-28, 2015, seeks to provide a comprehensive vision of the educational process in relation to development. It presents a host of useful ideas that contribute to entrenching the positive link between the requirements of education and the requirements of development in the United Arab Emirates. Through the interrelationship between innovation and skill, on the one hand, and academic cognitive content, on the other, the UAE educational system is counting on graduating nationals who are efficient, positive and able to be harmonious and flexible in dealing with the latest technological requirements and challenges of the labor market. The book's chapters highlight the importance of communication between scientific research and the public and private sectors to serve the comprehensive development, both physically and culturally. The book also discusses the important role of vocational education and training at the level of disciplines, curricula and qualification programs, while promoting the adoption of state-of-the-art technologies to enhance the competitiveness of graduates when they join the labor market and to motivate them to engage in private sector projects.
