  This article provides information on the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH). Home to more than 1,200 eligible retirees and veterans, AFRH allows residents to maintain an independent lifestyle in an environment designed for safety, comfort and personal enrichment. AFRH has one campus in Gulfport, Mississippi, which was established on February 26, 1811, and another in Washington D.C., which was established in 1851. The Gulfport facility sustained severe damage from Hurricane Katrina and remains closed.
