The article discusses whether Japan's corporations can afford to ignore international programs. The International Program Business (IPB) is growing. By pooling risk and centralizing risk information and purchasing, such programs allow customers to cut costs while improving risk management. So, why are not more Japanese companies getting on board? The global business consultancy Watson Wyatt estimates five to 10 percent annual increases for IPB in North America and Europe in the coming years, which is no great surprise, given the program's many benefits.
