Gastric acid-suppressive drugs linked to C difficile infection.

The article reports on the linkage of gastric acid-suppressive drugs to the risk increase of community-acquired clostridium difficile-associated disease (CDAD) in the United Kingdom. A study reveals that drugs that reduce gas acidity provide a more hospitable environment within which clostridium difficile bacteria can colonize.
