The article evaluates the efficiency of transfection reagents in the delivery of small interfering RNA targeted against human papillomavirus (HPV). The X-tremeGENE small interfering Transfection Reagent has a transfection efficiency of 80 to 90 percent. A reduction of HPV18 E6⁄E7 messenger RNA levels in the lanes containing the HPV18 E6⁄E7 small interfering RNA transfected cells with transfection reagents over the respective mock-transfected cells was observed.
