The Move to a Pluralistic Political Vision of Education.

The article focuses on the concept of democratic pluralism in education. Certainty, within an epistemological framework works as a foundation or confirmation of knowledge. The difficulty stands up when certainty is declared to be absolute and becomes the criteria for the ratification of all other frameworks. The search for certainty that modern philosophy represents has come under examination as the validating evidence of the epistemological tradition has been questioned and problematized. The post-modern movement serves an attempt to break from the criterion of modernity that has been dominated by the search for a foundation for truth. Meaning is a potentiality that is negotiated, while truth remains uncertain. The modern existing objective of validation is linked, as certainty becomes problematic. Hermeneutics asserts that the base understanding upon communicative interactions that one seeks to create is agreement or meaning. Understanding is a negotiated agreement among empowered agents within a dialogue.
