      The article reports on the launching of Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX), the first futures exchange in the United Arab Emirates, on November 22, 2005. The launch of the futures exchange will have a real impact and change the face of commodities trading in the country. The DGCX commenced trading in gold futures with half its 40-50 operational members taking part. Trading peaked in the first week on the 25 November despite the Middle East weekend and slow market activity in the US due to the Thanksgiving holiday. It also plans to introduce silver futures and gold and silver options early next year, followed by marine fuel, steel and freight rates by the end of 2006.
