The article focuses on the opportunities that the Web provides to the libraries for the provision of information and internal staffing structures. Today, the Web is an essential way of doing business for libraries. To achieve a better product for patrons, libraries are looking at structural models of professional and corporate Web teams in the private sector. The result has been increasing attempts to create self-directed working teams, which often include the use of a governing body to design, assess, and plan and the assistance of other teams to construct and maintain. Yet, as much as libraries have progressed in successful implementation of various team models, there is more to be gained by studying what factors contribute to the successful development of a working group or team in a Web environment. There are many ways to select a team, and none of them are wrong as long as they take into account certain things about Web development. Political considerations, such as which person might best represent a department, need to take a backseat to the realities of who knows enough to do the job. Web work demands a variety of skills, more skills than any one person can master.
