      The article reports about the legal fight between Saint Jude Medical Inc. and CarboMedics Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of InterMedics Inc., over the ownership of the technology to produce mechanical heart valves. Both the companies were facing financial difficulties and sales had receded due to mistrust among them. It was the first instance where a medical device was withdrawn due to business problems as a result making the patients suffer and rival companies taking advantage.
