Barley BYDV protection needed.

This article deals with the importance of applying seed treatment against barley yellow dwarf virus in September 2005, according to Allen Scobie of Scottish Agronomy. Applying seed treatment against the plant virus may be worthwhile this season, following problems in spring barley in early 2005. Scobie advises growers planning on using home-saved barley seed to get it tested. By comparison, wheat has a naked seed and can suffer more from problems such as fusarium, even at very low levels of infection.
