Reaching Kids with Asperger's Syndrome.

This article deals with the education of children with Asperger's syndrome. The disorder has been described in terms of social deficits with cognitive skills remaining preserved in the afflicted individual. The hallmark of Asperger's Syndrome is the failure to develop social competence despite relatively normal language and cognitive development. In addition, children with the disorder is learning to speak before learning to walk. Also included are the characteristics of distractability, visual versus auditory processing, problem solving and motivation.
