Translation with commentary of two war sonnets by Miguel Hernández.

This paper presents a translation with commentary of two war sonnets written by Miguel Hernández during the Spanish Civil War. The comments present translation as a process, from the author's deep knowledge and his work to the establishment of priorities in translating his poetry. Following Jones (2024), we suggest a process of poetic translation that starts at a previous interlinear translation from which adjustments and creative transformations are made, respecting the established priorities. We complement Jones by suggesting an order to possible adjustments. Translating the two sonnets, along with the comments, aims at promoting self-awareness of the translation process, thus contributing to translation critique, as well as the academic education of poetry translators. Also, the translations contribute to the literary critique and research on Miguel Hernández in Brazil and the poetry in the period of the Spanish Civil War. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Este trabalho apresenta uma tradução com comentários a dois sonetos compostos por Miguel Hernández durante a guerra civil espanhola. Os comentários enfocam o processo tradutório, que parte do conhecimento aprofundado do autor e sua obra para o estabelecimento de prioridades na tradução de sua poesia. Seguindo Jones (2024), sugerimos um processo de tradução poética que parte de uma tradução interlinear prévia a partir da qual são feitos ajustes e transformações criativas respeitando as prioridades estabelecidas. Complementamos o autor propondo uma ordem aos ajustes possíveis. A apresentação dos dois sonetos em tradução e esses comentários têm o objetivo de promover a autoconsciência do fazer tradutório, contribuindo para a crítica em tradução e para a formação de tradutores e tradutoras de poesia. Subsidiariamente, contribui para a crítica literária e as pesquisas no Brasil sobre Miguel Hernández e sobre a poesia na guerra civil espanhola. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
