Decriminalization of abortion due to rape: implementation and challenges. (English)

This article analyzes the implementation of the decriminalization of abortion in cases of rape in Ecuador, a significant advancement in reproductive rights. Despite legislative achievements, multiple challenges persist in the effective access to these services due to the lack of training for healthcare personnel, social stigma, and legal barriers. A mixed-methods approach was used, which included indepth interviews with healthcare professionals, focus groups with affected women, and a documentary analysis of reports and statistics from the Ministry of Public Health. The results highlight the need for comprehensive strategies to improve access and ensure dignified treatment for women, thereby promoting their autonomy and well-being. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Este artículo analiza la implementación de la despenalización del aborto en casos de violación en Ecuador, un avance significativo en los derechos reproductivos. A pesar de los logros legislativos, persisten múltiples desafíos en el acceso efectivo a estos servicios, debido a la falta de capacitación del personal de salud, el estigma social y las barreras legales. Se empleó un enfoque mixto que incluyó entrevistas en profundidad con profesionales de la salud, grupos focales con mujeres afectadas y un análisis documental de informes y estadísticas del Ministerio de Salud Pública.
