      This study delves into the influential factors shaping the vocational pathways of young women who completed their final year of high school in Chilean educational institutions in 2021. With a focus on three key elements - a) family influence, b) sexist representations, and c) academic motivations - a qualitative approach using a biographical design was employed. In-depth interviews were conducted with eight young women: four of them were planning to pursue feminized careers and four masculinized careers. The findings underscore that the vocational decisions are gradually shaped by stereotypes, values and beliefs shared by their families throughout their life trajectories. The family, especially the mother, serves as an important referent in future decisions. Students who plan to pursue masculinized careers find motivation in male family members who studied the same or similar careers, whom they see as a source of support. Finally, adolescent girls tend to choose feminized careers driven by a desire to nurture others and as a gesture of gratitude towards maternal labor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

      Este artículo explora factores que inciden en las elecciones vocacionales de mujeres que cursaron último año de enseñanza secundaria en establecimientos educacionales chilenos durante el año 2021. El análisis se centró en tres factores: a) influencia familiar, b) representaciones sexistas y c) motivaciones académicas. Con una metodología cualitativa basada en un diseño biográfico, se entrevistó en profundidad a ocho jóvenes: cuatro proyectaban estudiar carreras feminizadas y cuatro carreras masculinizadas. Los resultados muestran que las decisiones vocacionales se construyen progresivamente desde estereotipos, valores y creencias compartidas por sus familias a lo largo de sus trayectorias vitales. La familia, y especialmente la madre, opera como un referente importante en las decisiones de futuro. Las estudiantes que proyectan estudiar carreras masculinizadas encuentran motivación en figuras familiares masculinas que estudiaron las mismas carreras o similares, a quienes ven como fuente de apoyo. Finalmente, las adolescentes tienden a elegir carreras feminizadas motivadas por el deseo de cuidar de otras personas y como agradecimiento hacia la labor materna. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
