The article presents the current stock market indicators in the United States. The Standard & Poor's 500 managed a gain of just 6.1%, and the Dow Jones industrial average dawdled up a scant 1.4%. The efficient market theory says that every security's price equals its investment value. Lots of smart investors have disproved this theory on the long side by finding and profiting from inefficiencies, overlooked values and excesses of pessimism. But a smaller number have mastered the art of profiting from what may be even greater price inefficiencies on the other side--overinflated stocks, excesses of optimism and over-looked pitfalls in stocks.
